Prague - Charles Bridge - Infant of Prague - Amazing!!!

Image
The sun peeked out for a brief minute so of course I snap a photo.  Prague was beautiful.  We were staying in a hostel about 20 min from the center of the city.  I have to say part of the fun of traveling was staying in the smaller cheaper accommodations.  You get to met people of the country that is different than staying in a major hotel.  Also the fun of taking the subways from residential areas to the middle of the cities is quite adventurous. One the the most interesting people we met was our taxi driver.  He spoke a little english and we only spoke english.  He was impressive.  He agreed to pick us up at 4:00 am so we could make our cheap flight to Milan.  He called and confirmed our pick up time.  It was very reassuring since we didn't speak the language at all.  He was right on time and got us to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. It is very difficult to see but in the center of the photo is the Infant of Prague.  Impressive in person. Did I mention

Amsterdam Cont. - Windmill Village - Zaanse Schans - Amazing!!!! Love Amsterdam!!!

Image
Zaanse Schans is amazing!!!!  So quaint and charming.  If you are in Amsterdam, you should really try to go to the village. Here is how we did it.  At the Canal House the front desk told us exactly which train to get on and the stop to get off at.  Very helpful.  They did mention that tour buses were available but remember we were on a budget.  So the train by ourselves is what we did.  It was very easy and I do not think we missed out on anything by not going on the tour.  The freedom to move at our own pace was perfect. Everything about the village was charming!!  Here's another photo. More from Amsterdam soon.  Love it.

Yay Amsterdam!!!! What Can You Say? It's Fantastic - Canal House Hotel

Image
Yes, it was raining when we were there, but who cares.  Amsterdam is fantastic!!  We spoiled ourselves and treated ourselves to the Canal House Hotel.  It was expensive but more than worth it.  We plopped our backpacks and dashed out the door to explore the city.  Like in Copenhagen, Amsterdam has bikes all over the city.  It is remarkable to see how many people cycle around.  It added to the charm of the city. I highly recommend the Canal House Hotel - it is right around the corner from Anne Frank's House. And now a photo of what we had to see.  The bench from the Fault in Our Stars,  the movie. We love benches!!!!  And Amsterdam!!  And the rain!!!  Everything about Amsterdam was charming!!

Copenhagen - Backpacking - Hostels - The Little Mermaid - Nyhavn

Image
Copenhagen is charming.  We stayed at the Urban House Hostel, and could not have been happier with the location.  Urban House was very close to the train station, about a half a block away.  Perfect.  Urban House is worth looking into, I would definitely go back and stay there again.  It was very clean and safe.  We stayed in a room with six women, fun!! The top picture here is of Nyhavn canal and street.  It is as pretty as a picture.  Unfortunately, it was raining when we arrived there.  Yet, it is still charming in the rain, too. The city was very fun and exciting to see.  The only disappointment was we were unable to locate DANISH pancakes.  We did a tremendous amount of walking, which I rapidly learned was going to happen everywhere we travel. The Little Mermaid is a must see in Copenhagen.  It was a bit of a walk from our Hostel but a beautiful walk and if you need a little coffee, you can treat yourself to this: Then you can head to one of their many open outdoor r

Ireland - Giant Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Bridge, Day Tour - Backpacking

Image
Ireland - Wow!  The countryside is unbelievable.  This was from a day tour through PADDYWAGON  starting in Dublin going to Northern Ireland and back to Dublin.  We went to the tip of Carrick-a-Rede Bridge.  It's a bit of a walk but so worth it.  The picture above is from the knoll across the bridge.  The weather was cooperating, beautiful sun while we were walking and hiking around and rain on the drive up.  The picture below is from the Giant Causeway.  Everywhere we went that day the landscape was fantastic. Great Day!!!

Ireland - Dublin - Day Tour to Cliffs of Moher - Backpacking

Image
What can you say about a picture like this?  For me, I just want to back.  It is breathtakingly beautiful.  We were lucky enough to have a bright sunny day.  It was raining as we arrived. Cliffs of Moher are a must see.  We went on a day tour from Dublin.  The entire tour was fantastic.  It took about 12 hours.  We chose the PADDYWAGON Bus Tours.  Very nice.  The tour bus had wifi on it and there were numerous stops along the way for sightseeing and picture taking.  I personally loved the countryside equally as much as the main attraction - Cliffs of Moher. Twelve hours sounds like a long time but the tour is very well managed.  Plenty of time at Cliffs of Moher and a lovely leisurely lunch at an adorable town close to the Cliffs of Moher. This picture was on the way to Cliffs of Moher when it was still raining.  But the sun was shining at the Cliffs of Moher. If you are in Ireland, you need to see these cliffs.  Tomorrow on to Northern Ireland. Yay!

Dublin - Ireland - St Stephen's Green Park - Backpacking

First time in Ireland.  Exciting!  We head to the hostel in Dublin - Jacobs Inn. Very nice hostel.   I fell in love with the city.  Fast paced, friendly, vibrant.  So much to see - so much to do.  We immediately head out to see the city and do a little shopping. So, this was the first day of walking walking walking.  It was perfect.  The city was perfect.  We finished the day walking through St. Stephen's Green Park.  Just beautiful!!!
